About the Sentra B12
The B12 Sentra marked Nissans shift to front-wheel-drive for the compact sedan, and it was a bigger deal than most remember. Between 1986 and 1990, this platform spawned everything from economy commuters to the rally-homologated SE version. The E16i engine was simple and reliable, the interior was functional, and the driving experience was perfectly inoffensive. In North America, the B12 was the car that convinced a generation of buyers that Nissan could compete directly with the Civic and Corolla.
