About the Sentra B13
The B13 Sentra showed up in 1990 and Nissan built it like they had something to prove against the Civic. The GA16DE 1.6-liter made 110 hp in the SE-R, revved to 7,000 rpm, and had a throttle response that made you forget you were driving an economy car. The SE-R was the real story. Independent rear suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars, and a chassis that autocross regulars discovered could embarrass cars with twice the horsepower. The base models were basic transportation done right. Light, efficient, reliable. The coupe looked sharp for the early '90s. Nissan priced the SE-R under the Civic Si and gave you more car for the money. The B13 is the Sentra that enthusiasts still talk about because Nissan hasn't made one this good since.
