The B17 Sentra occupied Nissans compact sedan slot from 2012 to 2019 with a strategy built on value and fuel economy. The 1.8-liter MRA8DE engine paired with a CVT delivered respectable efficiency numbers, and the cabin was spacious for the class. Nissan priced it aggressively, making it a fleet and rental favorite — which was both a sales victory and a brand perception problem. The B17 was perfectly competent transportation that suffered from being perfectly competent transportation. Sometimes adequate is not enough to be memorable.
