About the Forester 2.0 S/TB (177 Hp) AWD
The SF Forester S/TB was Subaru's first real attempt at a turbocharged crossover. 177 hp from a 2.0-liter turbo flat-four, symmetrical AWD, and a five-speed manual in a car tall enough to clear forest roads. It wasn't fast by STI standards. It was fast for something with roof rails. The SF proved that the boxer turbo formula worked in any body style Subaru wanted to wrap around it. The manual transmission made all the difference — this was still a driver's Subaru, not a family appliance.
