About the Forester SH
Third-gen Forester, and Subaru gave it the turbo it deserved. The SH got the EJ25 turbo making 224 hp in the XT trim, paired with a five-speed automatic or a four-speed that nobody should have bought. The naturally aspirated 2.5 made 170 hp and handled daily duties without complaint. The chassis tightened up over the SG, ride quality improved, and the interior finally had materials that didn't feel like they came from a parts bin labeled "1997." Symmetrical AWD stayed, the boxer engine sat low, and ground clearance held at 8.7 inches. The SH was wider and more stable than the SG, which mattered on highway on-ramps and ski resort access roads. This was the Forester that balanced utility and driving engagement before Subaru decided to pick just one.
