About the Legacy BN
Seventh-gen Legacy, and Subaru was running out of sedan buyers. The BN got the FB25 2.5-liter at 175 hp naturally aspirated and the FA20DIT turbo at 256 hp. CVT across the range, AWD standard. The 3.6R flat-six was still available at 256 hp for buyers who wanted the smoother engine. The interior was improved with a larger touchscreen, better materials, and the EyeSight safety suite as standard on higher trims. The BN drove well enough, comfortable and composed on the highway with decent noise isolation. But the mid-size sedan market was shrinking and the Legacy was never the first name on anyone's shopping list. Subaru sold the BN in modest numbers while the Outback and Forester carried the brand. The Legacy was becoming a niche product in its own lineup.
