About the Legacy BW
Eighth-gen Legacy, and Subaru went all-in on the global platform. The BW got the SGP2 architecture, a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-four making 182 hp, and the 2.4-liter turbo at 260 hp in the Sport and GT trims. The turbo was the one that felt like a proper Legacy. Torquey, confident, quick enough to merge without thinking about it. CVT across the range, no manual option, which hurt the enthusiast appeal but matched how most buyers actually drove. The 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen from the VB WRX showed up here too. The interior was comfortable, the ride quality was improved, and the noise isolation was the best any Legacy had managed. Subaru was building a proper mid-size sedan. The market had mostly stopped caring about mid-size sedans.
