About the Outback BT
Sixth-gen Outback, and Subaru committed fully to the crossover wagon life. The BT rode on the SGP2 platform, got the FA24 2.4-liter turbo making 260 hp in the XT, and the FB25 naturally aspirated at 182 hp for base trims. The 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen dominated the dash. Bigger than the BS it replaced, with more cargo space and a wider cabin. X-Mode with dual-function capability handled dirt roads, mud, and snow without needing a locker. The Wilderness trim added skid plates, all-terrain tires, and 9.5 inches of ground clearance for buyers who actually left pavement. CVT only, which was fine for the Outback's mission. The BT was Subaru's best-selling model for a reason. It did everything a modern family needed without pretending to be something it wasn't.
