About the Camry XV30
Fifth-gen Camry, and Toyota built the mid-sizer that America defaulted to. The 2AZ-FE 2.4-liter made 157 hp, the 1MZ-FE 3.0 V6 pushed to 192 hp, and the later 3.3 V6 hit 210 hp. The Camry Solara coupe and convertible lived on this platform and looked better than a Camry had any right to. The XV30 was wider, stiffer, and quieter than the XV20. The interior was comfortable with available leather and a JBL audio system. Build quality was typical Toyota: everything worked, nothing impressed, and the car would run for 200,000 miles on routine maintenance. The XV30 was the generation that locked the Camry into its role as the car Americans bought when they wanted to stop thinking about cars. It did that job perfectly.
