About the Corolla E20
Toyota kept the Corolla rear-wheel-drive and gave it a proper facelift for the E20. Wider track, longer wheelbase, and available disc brakes up front — the platform grew up fast between 1970 and 1974. The coupe looked genuinely sharp for the era, and the 2T-series engines were bulletproof. In markets like Australia and South Africa, the E20 built the dealer network that Toyota still relies on today. Not flashy, not trying to be. Just better than yesterday, which was already pretty good.
