Toyota and Subaru's joint project: a naturally aspirated boxer-four in a lightweight rear-drive chassis. The FA20 made 200 hp and not much torque, which meant you had to rev it and work the six-speed to extract speed. That was by design. At 1,240 kg, the ZN6 was a momentum car that rewarded technique over throttle mashing. The torque dip at 3,500 rpm was real and annoying. Everything else was right.
