About the Yaris XP10

Toyota created the Yaris in 1999 as a replacement for the Starlet, and the XP10 immediately set the standard for supermini packaging. The platform was tiny on the outside but remarkably spacious inside, thanks to a center-mounted instrument cluster that freed up dashboard space. The 1.0 and 1.3 VVT-i engines were eager and efficient. European Car of the Year in 2000 confirmed what buyers already knew — this was the small car that finally got everything right. Light, nimble, and genuinely enjoyable around town.
