About the Yaris XP130
Third-gen Yaris, and Toyota kept the formula simple. The 1NR-FE 1.33-liter made 99 hp in most markets, the hybrid used a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle with an electric motor for combined output around 100 hp and genuine 60-mpg capability. The platform was shared with the Mazda2 in some variants. The ride was firm but not uncomfortable, the steering was light, and the cabin was surprisingly roomy for the exterior dimensions. Toyota's Touch 2 infotainment was adequate. The interior materials were budget-appropriate, nothing more. The XP130 Yaris sold to people who wanted a Toyota in the smallest possible package with the lowest possible running costs. It delivered exactly that. Not exciting, not trying to be, and completely honest about what it was.
