About the Polo Mk6
VW built the Polo Mk6 on the MQB-A0 platform and the gap between Polo and Golf nearly disappeared. The 1.0 TSI three-cylinder made 95 or 115 hp and felt peppy enough in a car this size. The GTI got a 2.0 TSI making 207 hp, more power than the Golf GTI Mk5 had, in a car a full size smaller. That math worked. Digital cockpit available, LED headlights, adaptive cruise. Features that belonged in cars twice the price five years earlier. The ride was firm but controlled, the cabin was quiet for a supermini, and the interior materials would've passed for premium in 2015. The Mk6 Polo was the car that made people question why they needed a Golf at all. VW didn't mind. They sold both.
