About the Polo

The Polo is the Golf's little sibling — the same German engineering philosophy compressed into a supermini body and sold in numbers that most brands can only dream of. Since 1975, the Polo has been Europe's default small car — the vehicle you learned to drive in, parked in tight city spots, and maintained for the cost of a monthly coffee habit. It was always well-built for its class, always slightly more expensive than the competition, and always justified that premium with an interior that felt one segment above. The Mk5 generation was the inflection point — the Polo that grew to the size of a Mk4 Golf and suddenly felt like a genuine car rather than a budget compromise. The GTI variant packed 200 hp into a package that weighed just over a ton, creating a hot hatch that terrified cars twice its price on B-roads. The current Polo shares its MQB platform with the Golf and benefits from everything that trickles down. On Revnut, the Polo ranks where small meets sophisticated — and the community decides which generation nailed the ratio.
