The S65 V8 revved to 8,300 rpm. A V8. In a 3 Series. BMW took the engine concept from the E60 M5's V10, dropped two cylinders, and created a four-liter naturally aspirated V8 that sang like nothing else in its class. 420 hp with individual throttle bodies — this was Formula 1 thinking applied to a car you could park at the supermarket. The E90 M3 was the last naturally aspirated M3. Every one that followed has been faster. None of them sound like this.
