The F10 M5 was the first turbocharged M5, and it made the naturally aspirated V10 seem quaint. 560 hp from a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 with 680 Nm of torque available from 1,500 rpm. The power delivery was a wall of thrust that the old S85 V10 could never replicate below 5,000 rpm. The seven-speed DCT shifted faster than human thought. BMW killed the manual option and nobody who drove the DCT complained. The F10 was the M5 that chose devastation over drama. The speed was the point.
