About the Camaro 1st Gen
Three model years. That's it. The first-gen Camaro arrived in '67, and by '69 it was already being replaced. In between, it became the most collectible American muscle car this side of a Shelby. The Z/28 is the one that matters. The 302 DZ V8 wasn't about drag-strip torque — it was built to go Trans-Am racing against Mustangs on road courses. High-revving, undersquare, tuned for a purpose that had nothing to do with stoplight launches. SS badges sold more cars. RS packages looked better in driveways. But the Z/28 was the Camaro that earned its reputation on a track, not a quarter-mile. Three years was enough.
