A five-cylinder turbo in a hot hatch. Ford raided the Volvo parts bin and emerged with the 2.5-liter T5 making 225 hp — a unit with a distinctive off-beat exhaust note that no four-cylinder could replicate. The Mk2 Focus ST wasn't the sharpest tool in the hot hatch drawer, but it had character in excess. Torque steer was part of the experience. The chassis was playful, the steering was communicative, and that five-pot sound track turned every tunnel into a stage. Raw, unfiltered, and proudly imperfect.
