About the Rio UB

The UB Rio launched in 2011 and suddenly looked like a car that people might actually want rather than settle for. Peter Schreigers design magic struck again — the aggressive front end and flowing body gave the Rio a presence that subcompacts rarely achieve. The 1.6 GDI engine was efficient and responsive, and the six-speed automatic was a significant upgrade over the previous four-speed. Interior quality jumped noticeably. This was the generation that moved Rio from the budget column into the genuinely-competitive column.
