About the Sportage QL
Kia redesigned the Sportage on the same platform as the Tucson and built a compact crossover that looked better than it needed to. The 2.4 GDI made 181 hp, the 2.0 turbo hit 237 hp in the SX. AWD was optional with a locking center coupling. The chassis was tuned for comfort, the ride was quiet, and the interior had genuine soft-touch materials throughout. An 8-inch touchscreen ran Kia's UVO system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The QL Sportage sold well globally because it looked distinctive in a sea of anonymous crossovers, offered competitive equipment levels, and came with the warranty that made cautious buyers feel safe. Not the most exciting compact SUV to drive, but the one that checked the most boxes for the money.
