About the Sportage

The Sportage is where Kia's reinvention started — the compact SUV that went from forgettable to segment-defining in the span of one generation. The first Sportage arrived in 1993 as a boxy, body-on-frame compact SUV that competed with the RAV4 and CR-V on price alone. The second and third generations were competent but anonymous. You could own one for years and still not recognize it in a parking lot. The fifth generation changed everything. Launched in 2021 with Kia's new design language, the NQ5 Sportage looked like nothing else on the road — boomerang DRLs wrapping into a textured grille, a cabin dominated by a curved dual-screen display, and proportions that made compact crossovers from Toyota and Honda look a generation behind.
