About the Forester 6th Gen
Subaru skipped a generation name and went straight to calling it the sixth-gen Forester. Built on an evolved SGP platform, the 2.5-liter boxer makes 180 hp with the hybrid assist bumping combined output slightly. Symmetrical AWD stays, EyeSight is standard, and the X-Mode off-road system is more capable than most owners will ever test. The interior is the biggest change. Larger touchscreen, better materials, a design that finally looks current instead of two years behind. The Wilderness trim adds the usual skid plates and all-terrain tires for the overlanding crowd. Ground clearance hits 9.2 inches. The sixth-gen Forester doesn't try to be exciting. It tries to be the most competent compact crossover with AWD and it gets close enough that the compromises don't matter.
