About the NSX NSX-R (NA1)

The NSX-R was Honda's motorsport division doing what it did best: removing everything that wasn't essential and making everything that remained perfect. 120 kg lighter than the standard NSX through stripped sound insulation, a carbon fiber hood, single-pane rear window, and Recaro bucket seats. The engine was the same 3.0 VTEC V6 with the same 270 hp, but in a car weighing 1,230 kg, the difference was transformational. The suspension was retuned by Honda's racing engineers. The steering gained a quicker rack. The chassis rigidity improved with additional spot welds. The 2002 NSX-R revision added a fixed rear spoiler, carbon fiber components, and further suspension refinements that made it one of the fastest naturally aspirated cars around the Nurburgring Nordschleife. In Championship White with the red interior, the NSX-R is one of the most desirable Japanese sports cars ever built — and valued accordingly.
