About the Supra A70 (Mk III)

The A70 dropped the Celica name and never looked back. This was the Supra — standalone, purpose-built, and finally allowed to be the car Toyota had been circling for eight years. The 7M-GTE turbo inline-six made 230 hp and gave the Mk III genuine speed. The Turbo A homologation variant — built for Group A rally — pushed output to 270 hp and proved Toyota was serious about motorsport, not just commuter cars with sporty pretensions. The chassis was rigid, the brakes were oversized, and the optional TEMS adaptive suspension was years ahead of the competition. The A70 also introduced the Supra's signature design language: long hood, wide stance, pop-up headlights. It looked fast standing still. Toyota sold it alongside the MR2 and the AE86, giving enthusiasts three completely different reasons to visit a Toyota dealer. This is where the Supra cult started. Not with the A80. Here.
