SUPRA A90 (MK V)
About the Supra A90 (Mk V)
Toyota brought back the Supra name in 2019 and immediately started a war. The A90 shares its platform, engine, and transmission with the BMW Z4 — a collaboration that made business sense and emotional nonsense to a fanbase raised on the 2JZ. The B58 3.0-liter turbo inline-six is a genuinely excellent engine. 382 hp in the final form, silky smooth, and responsive in a way the twin-turbo 2JZ never was at low RPM. The ZF eight-speed automatic shifts faster than most humans can manage a clutch. The 50:50 weight distribution and short wheelbase make it one of the sharpest-handling cars in its price range. But it's not a Toyota engine. It's not a Toyota transmission. The interior is a BMW parts bin with Toyota badges. For purists, the A90 is a beautifully executed sports car wearing the wrong name. For everyone else, it's a $55,000 coupe that punches well above its price and sounds spectacular doing it. The debate hasn't settled. On Revnut, the community gets to decide where the A90 stands in a lineage it didn't build from scratch.
