About the Clio RS
The Clio RS did one thing better than any hot hatch in history: it made 170 horsepower feel like 300. Renault Sport took a city car, gave it a high-revving naturally aspirated four-cylinder, stripped out what didn't matter, and created something that embarrassed cars twice its price on a B-road. The formula barely changed across three generations of pure NA power — more grip, less weight, rev it to the moon. The 172 started it. The 182 Trophy perfected it. The 197 grew up. And the Mk4 broke the rules entirely with a turbo and a dual-clutch gearbox, splitting the fanbase clean in half. What made every Clio RS special wasn't the power — it was the ratio. Under 1,100 kg with a chassis tuned by people who clearly drove their own cars home from work. No electronic nannies, no comfort mode, no apologies. The Clio RS didn't compete with the Golf GTI. It ignored it completely and went racing.
